Join our Teaching Artists every second and fourth Sundays, 1-3 PM, this summer. They will provide all the supplies and take you on a creative journey as you sip wine (or beverage of choice) and meet new friends!

Featured Art Style: Flowers and Color Theory

Artist Bio: Hello! I’m Skye and I'm 19. I’ve been making art for a large portion of my life. I love getting involved in the art community, especially in colorado–where creativity and inspiration is so richly abundant. I’ve had the pleasure of growing up in between Tokyo and Boulder, which exposed me to lots of multicultural art in the process. I currently attend CU and am in the process of getting my BFA in Fine Arts. I am planning on minoring in education, as being an art teacher has been a dream of mine since I was young. I am in a committed relationship with oil paints, but sometimes I’ll find myself using gouache, making sculptures, and writing poetry! Art in any form is a magical experience, so I’m quite excited to experience it with you all at this Create and Sip.

Class Details: We will learn floral structures as well as how to pair colors using acrylics. Acrylics are easier to use when experimenting with layers of colors because they dry pretty quickly. Students will have the freedom to choose their flowers and colors. We will loosely but consistently refer to the color wheel throughout the process. I’ll provide examples and fake flowers so that we have both 2D and 3D references. I’ll do my best to structure the class so that everyone will enjoy the process as well as the product!
